Iran authorities denounced on Tuesday the European Union’s vote to list the military unit of Hezbollah as a terrorist group.
Iran and Hezbollah are allies.
Foreign ministry spokesman Abbas Araghchi called the decision “strange” and “uncalculated” in a press conference, The Associated Press reported. He said the decision to blacklist the Shiite militant group only serves Israel, and will lead to further unrest and political complications in the Middle East.
He also said the label wouldn’t change Hezbollah’s “popular and justice-seeking identity,” AP reported.
The 28-member European Union voted to blacklist the group on Monday.
