Three American military members were killed Tuesday in an improvised explosive device attack in eastern Afghanistan, local authorities reported.
The attack took place in Wardak province, outside the nation’s capital of Kabul, Voice of America reported, and was carried out by a man riding on a donkey, according to an ABC report. The soldiers were part of a NATO mission.
NBC cited an Afghan official who said the victims were Americans. No further details about the victims were immediately available.
The International Security Assistance Force said three were killed, but that their identification would be left “to the relevant national authorities,” NBC reported.
