Edward Snowden couldn’t abide the terms of Russia’s conditions for asylum and has abandoned his request, a spokesman for the Kremlin said Tuesday.
The condition: He would have to quit leaking U.S. intelligence, Agence France-Presse reported.
“He abandoned his intention and his request to receive the chance of staying in Russia,” Russian President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said, AFP reported.
Mr. Snowden, who fled the United States for Hong Kong after leaking National Security Agency information and who is now seeking a new home, applied for asylum in Russia on Sunday.
