Supporters of Trayvon Martin, the 17-year-old shot and killed by George Zimmerman, banding together as a group as Dream Defenders, have taken over Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s office and refused to leave until their list of demands is met.
Breitbart reported the group started the sit-in on Tuesday — “Takeover Tuesday,” they dubbed it.
Their demands: Mr. Scott must call a special legislative session to discuss the “Trayvon Martin Civil Rights Act” and its included mandate to repeal “stand your ground” state laws. And state lawmakers also pass a bill to halt racial profiling by police.
Ahmad Abuznaid from Dream Defenders said to Breitbart that the group’s mission rises above party politics. He also said the members, made up of college students as well as experienced activists, will not leave until their demands are met.
