While House Republicans again work to unravel Obamacare, President Obama will deliver an address Thursday on the benefits that Americans are already seeing from the law.
White House press secretary Jay Carney said Wednesday that Mr. Obama will discuss “how the Affordable Care Act is holding insurance companies accountable and putting money back into the pockets of over 8.5 million Americans.”
Mr. Carney said the president will offer specific “concrete” examples of how the law is improving lives.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Democrat, said Wednesday that health-care premiums in the state will decline by 50 percent or more due to Obamacare going into effect.
The House was voting Wednesday on two measures to delay the law’s individual and employer mandates. It’s the 38th time the House Republican leadership has tried to eliminate or scale back the program since the GOP took control of the House in January 2011.
The president’s last speech on the Affordable Care Act, in June, was obscured by media coverage of Edward Snowden’s national security leaks.
