A reporter and cameraman for CBS2/KCAL9 were assaulted Monday night while covering a George Zimmerman protest in Leimert Park, Los Angeles.
Reporter Dave Bryan was interviewing Joseph Degurre, 43, around 10 p.m. when video shows Mr. Bryan getting hit in the back of the head by the cameraman’s camera, the Los Angeles Times reported.
“He pushed the camera guy down and the camera guy went down, the camera went down, David went down,” Degurre told the Los Angeles Times after the incident.
“While covering the disturbances in the Crenshaw District Monday might, a CBS2/KCAL9 news crew was assaulted by a lone assailant,” CBS2 and KCAL9 confirmed in a statement.
“The suspect then ran away. The crew was treated for minor injuries,” the stations said.
The attack was under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.

Fourteen people were arrested during Monday night’s protest, as a group of youths roamed Crenshaw Boulevard and neighboring streets, breaking windows, setting fires and attacking several people, the Los Angeles Times reported.
