Three men were shot early Tuesday while playing dominoes outside a Southeast D.C. apartment complex located just up the road from the scene of a shooting three days earlier that injured four people.
The shooting occurred around 12:30 a.m. alongside an apartment complex at 2408 Elvans Road Southeast, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Three men, a 28-year-old who lived at the apartment complex, a 30-year-old and a 23-year-old were playing dominoes when they heard gunfire and began to run from the area, according to a police report. The 28-year-old man was shot in the buttocks, while the 23-year-old was shot in the shot once in the leg and the 30-year-old shot twice in the upper leg. Police said none of the men’s injuries were considered life threatening.
Investigators found five cars that were also damaged by gunfire.
Police said no description was available of the person or persons who opened fire, and investigators had no known motive for the shooting.
Just three days earlier, four people — including two teenagers — were injured when a man opened fire on a group just a few blocks away.
Saturday’s shooting, in the 2800 block of Stanton Road Southeast, was caught on a Metrobus surveillance video. Police were still looking for two men involved in that incident. The video showed two men calmly get on the Metrobus. A short time later, they exit the bus in a hurry and one of the men raises a handgun and begins firing after he steps off the bus onto the sidewalk. Police recovered 10 shell casings at the scene.
A police spokeswoman said Tuesday that there was no known indication that the shootings were related.
