George Zimmerman is due to get his gun back — and that’s a good thing, because now he’ll need it more than ever, his lawyer said.
A jury found Mr. Zimmerman not guilty of all murder charges in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin late Saturday. And now that he’s cleared, his attorney Mark O’Mara said he’s due the return of his weapon, ABC reported.
Mr. Zimmerman’s Kel Tec 9 pistol was confiscated by police during the investigation and held as evidence during the trial.
“Yes he does” get his gun back, said Mr. O’Mara, in ABC. And he’s more than likely going to need it, he added. “[There’s] even more reason now, isn’t there? There are a lot of people out there who actually hate him, though they shouldn’t.”
But the fate of Mr. Zimmerman’s concealed carry permit is still unclear.
“The concealed weapons permit is another matter because that’s a decision by another state agency, and they will make that decision,” Mr. O’Mara said.
