A couple of teen-age boys are being hailed as heroes on Friday, after chasing a down a car on their bikes and rescuing a girl, 5, who had been reported as missing and abducted just a couple hours earlier.
Pennsylvania police say the girl, Jocelyn Rojas, was abducted from her yard on Thursday about 4:30 p.m. in Lancaster Township, The Huffington Post reported.
Emergency responders and about 100 members of the community took to the streets to find her. Among the searchers: Temar Boggs, 15, and his friend, unnamed in the report.
Two hours later, the two bike-riding boys caught sight of the girl in a car being driven by a man, and they gave chase. The driver saw the two racing after him and stopped a little way down the road, and let the girl out.
“Soon as the guy started noticing that we were chasing them, he stopped at the end of the hill and let her out and she ran to me and said that she needed her mom and I brought her back over here to police,” Boggs said, in the local News 21.
Lancaster Township fire Chief Ron Comfort said in a Huffington Post report that the girl was scared, but doing well, seemingly uninjured.
The girl’s grandmother, Tracey Clay, said in News 21: “I met Tremar, he’s the one who helped track her down and she ran to him. He’s our hero.”
