LOUDON, N.H. (AP) - Danica Patrick in the buff?
Keep your firesuit on.
It’s not happening _ well, at least not yet.
Her sexy Super Bowl ads and revealing magazine shoots shot Patrick into stardom well before she became an IndyCar star or moved to NASCAR.
But she’s not quite ready to take it all off. Patrick said she’s declined repeated requests to pose for ESPN The Magazine’s “Body Issue.” Male and female athletes are usually nude for the shoot, though with strategically placed hands or props.
“I mean as far as artistically, I think it’d be really fun, but it’s not things that I need to do to push the issue with my brand,” Patrick said. “There’s already enough stuff that I do that pushes that.”
Patrick said she’s also turned down requests to get her body painted for Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue.
“There’s a difference to me between going to the beach and wearing a swimming suit and going to the beach and wearing nothing or paint,” she said. “That’s just pushing the limit a little bit.”
San Francisco quarterback Colin Kaepernick, 77-year-old golf Hall of Famer Gary Player and Olympic volleyball gold medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings _ during and after her pregnancy _ are all featured in this month’s ESPN The Magazine’s “Body Issue.”
Don’t get disheartened quite yet. Patrick might one day to decide get some motors running and bare all.
“When I speak to them and they ask me, each time I say, `Don’t stop asking,’” she said. “I don’t know. I might change my mind one year. And it might be something that parallels something else I’m doing, or where I’m at, or how I’m feeling. But just not right now.”
