U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry gave a teary-eyed thank you on Wednesday to well-wishers concerned about his wife Teresa’s medical condition.
“Teresa is doing better, under evaluation and we hope improving,” Mr. Kerry said at the State Department on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press. He thanked supporters for “the remarkable outpouring of good wishes. It’s really been very special.”
Teresa Heinz Kerry, 74, the billionaire heiress to the Heinz ketchup fortune, was rushed from the family’s Nantucket home to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on Sunday, following what doctors described as “seizure-like symptoms.”
She’s reportedly in fair condition, but medical staff continue to evaluate her progress closely. They’re still not sure what happened and have only ruled out several conditions and ailments, including heart attack, stroke or brain tumor.
The couple married in 1995.
