President Obama’s endorsement of a seven-term Democrat in a supposed safe California district raises questions: Just how safe is the district after all?

Mr. Obama endorsed Rep. Michael Honda on Monday, according to Roll Call.

“We need Congressman Mike Honda in the United States Congress, and I urge you to vote to keep him there,” Mr. Obama said, according to Roll Call, which characterized the public show of support as “remarkably early,” given the presidential election just wrapped three months ago.

Meanwhile, primary challenger Ro Khanna is reportedly coming on strong; he’s got a coffer that exceeds $1 million already, Roll Call reports.
