A new Department of Homeland Security video to give Americans guidance on dealing with mass shootings and gun-related attacks includes this gem: Grab your scissors.

Newser.com reports a voice in the video suggests: “If you are caught out in the open and cannot conceal yourself or take cover, you might consider trying to overpower the shooter with whatever means are available.”

The scene that appears on the video then is a man arming himself with scissors.

The video is called Options for Consideration, the New York Post reports, and was posted on the DHS website a month after the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings.

Newser.com reports an administration official said the video was intended to bolster President Obama’s gun control message.

Other scenes from the video: Workers crouched under desks, and scurrying to office corners and closets, as the voice advised to “protect your hiding place.”
