Hot-tempered Miami Dolphins legend and TV football analyst Dan Marino confessed to a torrid 2005 affair that produced a now 7-year-old love child with a former CBS production assistant after the ex-QB’s sneak was caught by the New York Post.
“This is a personal and private matter,” Mr. Marino said in a statement to the New York Post. “I take full responsibility both personally and financially for my actions now as I did then. We mutually agreed to keep our arrangement private to protect all parties involved.”
The still-married Mr. Marino reportedly paid millions to keep the news of his child, Chloe, quiet, The Post reported.
The mother is a former production assistant at CBS Sports named Donna Savattere.
Mr. Marino has been married to his wife, Claire, for nearly 30 years and has six children, four boys and two adopted daughters.
The news surfaces just days before Mr. Marino hosts Sunday’s pre-game Super Bowl alongside ex-players Boomer Esiaison and Shannon Sharpe.
Mr. Marino insisted to the New York Post that his marriage is still strong, despite the admitted affair.
“My wife and I have been married for almost 30 years and have six children together. And we continue to be a strong and loving family.” he wrote, according to the Post report.
Despite never having won the Super Bowl, Marino is considered among the best quarterbacks to ever play the game.
