Research in Motion unveiled its new lineup of smartphones, under the next-generation BlackBerry 10 operating system, during a Wednesday presentation to bolster excitement for its latest technology.
RIM also announced a moniker change, according to Fox News.
“From today on, we are BlackBerry everywhere in the world. One brand, one promise,” said CEO Thorstein Heins of the company’s move to drop the RIM moniker.
The newly launched phone line comes on the heels of development problems and market delays, and some industry analysts see the introduction of the phones as a make-or-break moment for the company, according to Fox News. The Z10 touts a 4.2-inch screen, similar to iPhones. The Q10 keeps the traditional BlackBerry keyboard, according to media descriptions of the product.
The public relations push took place at events around the globe. The company showcased two different and new phones in simultaneous press events in New York; Toronto; London; Paris; Jakarta, Indonesia; Dubai; and Johannesburg, according to Fox News
