A top aide to Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi said U.S. intelligence made up the Holocaust in order to wreck Germany’s public image during World War II, according to various media reports.

So what happened to the reported 6 million Jews who were killed by the Nazis? In a Fox News report, Fathi Shihab-Eddim, a senior aide to Mr. Morsi who’s authorized to appoint editors at the state-run newspapers, answered: They moved to the United States.

“The myth of the Holocaust is an industry that America invented,” he said in the Fox News report. “U.S. intelligence agencies in cooperation with their counterparts in allied nations during World War II created it to destroy the image of their opponents in Germany, and to justify war and massive destruction against military and civilian facilities of the Axis powers, and especially to hit Hiroshima and Nagasaki with the atomic bomb.”

This is not the first time a top Egyptian aide has made the outlandish claims.

In an exclusive interview with The Washington Times in July 2011, Ahmed Ezz El-Arab, the vice chairman of Egypt’s Wafd Party, called the Holocaust a “lie” and Jewish author Anne Frank’s firsthand account of her family’s hiding from the Nazis a “fake.”
