Investigators are still trying to determine the location of leak in an oil barge that struck a railroad bridge in Vicksburg, Miss., on Sunday and shut sections of the Mississippi River to traffic.
The barge, the Associated Press reported, was carrying 80,000 gallons, and sheen from the oil was reported three miles from the site of crash. A second barge also reportedly was damaged.
“Investigators are still trying to figure out what happened” and how much oil had spilled, said Coast Guard spokesman Lt. Ryan Gomez, according to the Associated Press.
Officials with the United States Environmental Services were trying to contain the oil. As of Monday, the river was still closed to traffic, the Coast Guard reported.
