The saucy melodrama between billionaire financier George Soros and his decades-younger ex-girlfriend is expected to continue for another season.
A Manhattan Supreme Court judge shot down the tycoon’s attempt to dismiss a $50 million lawsuit by his ex, Brazilian soap-opera actress Adriana Ferreyr. The New York Daily News reported in March that Mr. Soros even went so far as bribing the actress’s cousin with $250,000 in efforts to get her to persuade Ms. Ferreyr to drop the claim against him.
“Justice Debra James upheld most of the beauty’s claims against the lefty activist, who allegedly reneged on a promise to give her a $1.9 million apartment and then slapped her around when she complained, court papers say,” according to the New York Post.
Mr. Soros had promised to buy his then-lover the East 85th Street apartment in January 2010, just before he dumped her, the report added. The judge did drop a fraud claim, however, ruling that the mogul really did purchase the home with the intentions of giving it to Ms. Ferreyr, even though he gave it to another woman instead.
The two sides are expected to meet in court again in February.
