An Arizona man was arrested Sunday for threatening to blow up the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia, and charged with making terroristic threats and bomb threats, and various other offenses, media report.
Arrested was Carlos Balsas, 41, of Tempe, Ariz.
“I have no idea why” Mr. Balsas allegedly made the threats, said Tempe police spokeswoman Christine O’Brien in a CNN report.
Investigators said Mr. Balsas entered the Liberty Bell site and left two black backpacks, claiming he had explosives. Bomb squads did not find explosives in the backpacks or at the scene.
