Following a Prince Harry interview where he said to have killed Taliban insurgents, an NBC panel Wednesday hyperventilated over Harry’s “need to antagonize the Taliban.”

On NBC Today, attorney Star Jones said she was confused and asked as to why “the palace would permit the prince to give such an interview. Why do you need to antagonize the Taliban?”

Co-host Matt Lauer talked about Prince Harry’s interview where he spoke about returning fire, “killing some members of the Taliban. And he takes it kind of matter-of-factly.”

“I thought he jumped the shark,” the network’s chief medical editor, Nancy Snyderman, chimed in.

When asked by reporters Monday if he had killed any insurgents, Prince Harry replied, “Yeah, so, lots of people have. … Yes, we fire when we have to, take a life to save a life, but essentially we’re more of a deterrent than anything else.”

Donny Deutsch was the only panelist who expressed appreciation for the prince’s service: “I am so pleasantly surprised that a royal is actually in real duty … if he’s putting his life on the line, he can do whatever he wants.”
