The Social Security Administration Friday retracted a reprimand against an employee whose flatulence problem was creating “a hostile work environment.” The official reprimand was filed Dec. 10.
The reprimand letter had run four pages and charged the employee with “conduct unbecoming a federal employee.”
The Smoking Gun website reported the detailed reprimand letter included a log of dates and times when the employee was suspected of “releasing the awful and unpleasant odor” in his Baltimore office.
The worker, a 38-year-old Maryland resident, reportedly provided evidence that he suffered from “some medical conditions.”
A Social Security Administration spokesman said Friday in a two-sentence email that the reprimand was rescinded.
