Don’t answer your door. That’s the message from California authorities to Big Bear Lake resort residents, as the manhunt for an ex-policeman suspected of killing three people delved deep into neighborhoods on Friday.
Los Angeles police started going door-to-door in one resort community, warning residents against answering knocks from strangers and asking if they’ve seen Christopher Dorner, 33, according to Newser, a news website.
Mr. Dorner, who was fired from the Los Angeles Police Department in 2008, is thought to have shot and killed two police officers, as well as the daughter of the now-retired police officer who handled his appeal against being fired.
Surveillance aircraft is out in full force, patrolling the skies in a desperate search for the suspect.
Police said they found Mr. Dorner’s truck near a Southern California ski resort, Fox News reports, as the investigation now includes thousands from the law enforcement community.
Mr. Dorner, who was fired for making false statements about a training officer, committed the killings in retaliation, authorities believe. Mr. Dorner implicated himself in the killings with a manifesto posted online that warned of “unconventional and asymmetrical warfare” to come against “those in LAPD uniform, whether on or off duty.”
