A thinly veiled White House threat to Americans against altering a photograph of the president supposedly skeet shooting has pretty much fallen on deaf ears.
The White House released the now nearly-iconic photo of President Obama holding a shotgun with this caveat: “This official White House photograph is being made available only for publication by news organizations and/or for personal use printing by the subject(s) of the photograph. The photograph may not be manipulated in any way.”
White House adviser David Plouffe followed the photo’s release with a Twitter alert: ‘Attn skeet birthers. Make our day – let the photoshop conspiracies begin!” That’s according to a story from The Blaze.
In the hours since the tweet, the American public has taken up Mr. Plouffe’s challenge, The Blaze reports, and hundreds of altered photographs have surfaced on the Internet.
Some examples: Mr. Obama is seen blasting a hole in a copy of the Constitution. Mr. Obama is seen wearing a crown and pink tutu. Mr. Obama is seen taking on Bugs Bunny, who plugs the barrel with his finger.
Still, others are wondering why bother?
