Sen. Lindsey Graham had harsh words on Monday for Chuck Hagel, President Obama’s would-be Secretary of Defense: He’s “clueless” on some foreign-policy issues.

“I thought his confirmation hearing was disturbing,” Mr. Graham said, according to a Politico report. “I don’t think we should vote on him until we get all the things we’ve requested on all the speeches he’s made.”

As brusque as his criticism was, Mr. Graham still refused to say whether or not he’d vote for Mr. Hagel. Rather, he wished the White House would just withdraw his nomination, according to the report.

“He’s a good man, but these are dangerous times,” he said, in the Politico report. “What kind of signal are you sending to the Iranians when your secretary of defense is clueless about what your policy is?”
