An Israeli security expert estimated Monday that Iran will have the materials necessary to build a nuclear bomb within six months.

“Iran has completed in the last two years two components that … give it all of the necessary means to manufacture a nuclear weapon as soon as it chooses to do so,” said Amos Yadlin, the head of Israel’s Institute for National Security Studies, according to The Times of Israel.

Mr. Yadlin is also a former Israeli army intelligence head, The Times of Israel reports. Israel still has time to act — though the window of opportunity is rapidly closing, he said. He outlined one option: A pre-emptive attack on Tehran’s nuclear sites would lead to Iranian response, but not to a level of devastation, he said, according to The Times of Israel.

“Our assessment is that the Middle East won’t be enveloped in all-out war, and the Iranians will respond in a calculated, limited fashion,” Mr. Yadlin said, in the report.
