Seventy-plus prominent Republicans have signed on to a legal brief they will file with the U.S. Supreme Court in favor of gay marriage.

The brief will show support for the same-sex argument to be presented in a couple of cases set for a Supreme Court hearing next month, The Hill reports. One case deals with a California ban on same-sex marriage; the other, with the federal Defense of Marriage Act.

The Hill reports that signers include: Reps. Illeana Ros-Lehtinen and Richard Hanna; former Bush administration official Stephen Hadley; Rep. Deborah Price; and former presidential candidate Jon Huntsman. For Ms. Price in particular, the message her signature represents is a complete flip-flop.

“Like a lot of the country, my views have evolved on this from the first day I set foot in Congress,” she explained, according to The Hill. “I think it’s just the right thing, and I think it’s on solid legal footing, too.”
