Israeli’s Defense Ministry is on high alert as Palestinians prepare to lay to rest Arafat Jaradat, who died during imprisonment in Megiddo of unspecific causes that led to cardiac arrest.
Mr. Jaradat, 39, died Saturday at the Israeli facility. Israeli medical personnel at the Abu Kabir Institute of Forensic Medicine conducted an autopsy — which was attended by his family members and officials with the Palestinian Authority — over the weekend. Palestinians are alleging he died due to torture, but the autopsy found no evidence of external physical injuries, according to a report in Ynet News.
Following his death, Palestinians have launched several protests and riots.
Israel expects more of the same today, as Mr. Jaradat’s funeral goes forth, and security forces have been deployed near Hebron and in the areas of Beit Einun and Saeer, Ynet reports.
