Teddy Turner: Hanoi Jane turned dad, Ted, liberal

Hanoi Jane turned his dad liberal, he said, in an interview on Newsmax.

“I was raised in a different time at the Turner household, a very conservative household with capitalism and all of that kind of stuff,” he said. In 1991, shortly after his dad married Mr. Fonda, liberal politics started to seep, he said.

“He started becoming more and more environmentalist and then Jane helped move things over as well,” the younger Mr. Turner said, in the report. “Then when you start hanging around and everybody you’re hanging around with is liberal, then you tend to move more liberal.”

Mr. Turner, 49, is currently running for Congress in South Carolina, and faces a primary against former Gov. Mark Sanford, Fox News reported. He’s touting a conservative platform against tax hikes and same-sex marriage – and is hitting the ties to his liberal father head-on, as he campaigns.

“Yes, I’m Teddy Turner,” he said at one recent Republican Party event, according to Fox News. “You can’t pick your parents.”
