An aspiring rap artist was one of the three killed in a dramatic shoot-out and multi-car crash that shut down much of the Law Vegas Strip on Thursday.

Kenneth Cherry Jr., known as Kenny Clutch and the father of two young children, was driving his Maserati along Las Vegas Boulevard when an as-yet identified suspect in a black Range Rover Sport SUV fired several shots at him, CNN reported. Mr. Cherry’s car continued into the intersection with Flamingo Road and hit a taxi. The taxi caught fire; both the driver, Michael Boldon, 62, and an unnamed passenger were killed, CNN reported.

Three others were injured in the crash.

The shooting occurred just two blocks from where rap artist Tupac Shakur was killed in 1996, CNN said.

Thursday’s shooting began with an argument in the parking lot of the nearby Aria hotel, police said. Investigators are still searching for the driver and passengers in the Range Rover, and have called on the public, and law enforcement in neighboring states, for help.
