The steroid theory against Olympian Oscar Pistorius, 26, grows. Court testimony on Wednesday reveals that police discovered two boxes of testosterone, along with needles, in the Blade Runner’s bedroom.
In the last couple days, media reports have surfaced about investigators’ suspicions that Mr. Pistorius had killed his celebrity model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, in a fit of steroid-induced Valentine’s Day rage. But specifics toward that theory were lacking.
The Associated Press reports that Detective Hilton Botha revealed the presence of two boxes of testosterone and needles while giving testimony during Wednesday’s bail hearing. Mr. Pistorius has been charged with premeditated murder in the shooting death of his girlfriend.
Mr. Pistorius, for his part, insists he shot his 29-year-old girlfriend by accident, in fear she was an intruder to his gated community home in Pretoria. He shot at her through a shut bathroom door; various media have reported that Ms. Steenkamp was cowering behind the locked door, hiding after a loud argument with Mr. Pistorius.
