Asteroid 2012DA14 missed earth, water’s not flowing uphill — and on Friday Fox News Channel announced that former GOP presidential contender and populist conservative darling Herman Cain is joining its stable of contributors.
Snickering at FNC’s “fair and balanced” slogan is, of course, a favorite pastime on the left, where it’s long been an article of faith that the cable news ratings leader lists to the right.
But a fair and balanced observer looking at the lineup changes the network had announced since the November elections might have descried a trending hiring imbalance in favor of — no, really — the left.
Out went Tea Party pin-up Sarah Palin and Clinton family personal troll Dick Morris.
In came the scrappy mascot of the Occupy Wall Street wing of the Democratic Party, former Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich, and New England RINO centerfold, briefly Sen. Scott Brown of Massachusetts.
But equilibrium, it seems, has now been restored at Fox with the addition of Mr. Cain, who rose from footnote to frontrunner in the race for the GOP presidential nod, before the air came out of the balloon.
The plainspoken former CEO of the Godfather’s Pizza chain is also slated to contribute to the Fox Business Network, the Associated Press reports.
Mr. Cain said he’s looking forward to the job as “an opportunity to be one more voice for intelligent thinking in America.”
