A man who sought help for a shooting victim at a Capitol Heights fire station — dropping the man off at the station and then fleeing — has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with his death, police said Wednesday.
Sean Prince Hallowell, 25, was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder in Friday’s shooting of his “acquaintance,” 27-year-old Charles Robert Thompson of Fort Washington, Prince George’s County police said.
The shooting took place in the 2600 block of Timbercrest Drive in Forestville, a block from Mr. Hallowell’s home, according to police. After Mr. Thompson was shot, Mr. Hallowell drove the injured man about 2 miles to the Ritchie Volunteer Fire Station to seek medical attention. After alerting firefighters at the station, Mr. Hallowell left on foot.
Firefighters on duty at the station found Mr. Thompson in the backseat of a stolen car suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, according to officials with knowledge of the case. He was transported to a hospital where he died.
Police have released no further information about the circumstances of the shooting.
Mr. Hallowell is currently being held without bond. A phone number for family members could not be located Wednesday and it could not be determined whether Mr. Hallowell had an attorney.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled in the case for March 11.
