A professor from Columbia University compared the fugitive ex-Los Angeles cop thought to be killed after a deadly shooting rampage to a “superhero” on Wednesday.
Marc Lamont Hill sat on a CNN panel to discuss Christopher Dorner, the former police officer accused of killing four, including three police officers. When one of Mr. Hill’s fellow panelists expressed shock at the amount of online support Mr. Dorner was generating, he spoke up in disagreement.
“As far as Dorner himself goes, it’s been like a real-life superhero,” said the professor, who qualified his remarks with a general condemnation of murder. “It’s almost like watching ’Django Unchained’ in real life. It’s kind of exciting.”
Mr. Dorner, 33, whose anger over being fired from the force fueled the weeklong shooting spree, never emerged from his cabin hideout near Big Bear Lake after it was engulfed in flames during a standoff with authorities.
Police are currently attempting to identify the charred remains of a body recovered from the cabin they believe to be Mr. Dorner. His driver’s license was found in the rubble.
