The 21-year-old son of NBA legend Larry Bird was arrested at Indiana University, accused of trying to hit his ex-girlfriend with a car, according to police statements.

Connor Bird, son of Celtics star Larry Bird, faces charges on battery with injury, criminal mischief, intimidation with a deadly weapon and possession of marijuana, said Indiana University Police Chief Keith Cash, in a USA Today report.

Mr. Bird and his ex-girlfriend allegedly fought outside his Bloomington, Ind., apartment. Later, Mr. Bird traveled to his ex-girlfriend’s home to discuss the dispute, according to police, but the argument re-ignited. As the woman tried to walk away, Mr. Bird allegedly tried twice to hit her with his car, according to the USA Today report.

“This is a very private matter that we’re going to try to resolve quickly,” said Mr. Bird’s attorney, as quoted by USA Today. “We’re thankful that no one was seriously injured.”
