The European Union may take disciplinary action against Israel and ban the sale of products from the nation that hail from the Golan Heights and the West Bank.
German Der Spiegel magazine accused Israel of inaccurately labeling products made in the Golan Heights and the West Bank — territories that are under dispute, as Palestinians claim they are the rightful owners of the land — and called on the EU to ban these products, Ynet News reported.
EU import laws require that certain products — wine, for example — be clearly marked with their location of production, in order that certain European countries could avoid buying from what they perceive as “illegal settlements,” Ynet reported.
Many in the international community don’t recognize the West bank and Golan Heights as Israeli lands.
