The Sierra Club released a letter Monday with 30 names in the entertainment industry who are urging President Obama to make good on his promise to address global warming during his second term.
“Your legacy as 44th president of the United States rests firmly on your leadership on climate disruption,” the statement reads. “Only the president has the power to lead an effort on the scale and with the urgency we need to phase out fossil fuels and lead America, and the world, in a clean energy revolution.”
Among the celebrities included in the letter are Alec Baldwin, Alicia Silverstone, Edward Norton, Linkin Park, Morgan Freeman, Woody Harrelson and Yoko Ono.
The letter to the president was published as a full-page ad in Monday’s edition of The Hill newspaper.
The ad is the latest effort leading up to the Forward on Climate rally on Feb. 17 in Washington. The Sierra Club is touting it as the largest climate rally in U.S. history.
