The U.S. Air Force Band surprised visitors at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum by staging a flash-mob show that ultimately included about 120 musicians and singers.
The show spanned fully four minutes, Fox News reported.
It all started when Technical Sgt. Edward Prevost sat down in a chair and pulled out his cello. The crowd of visitors parted to listen — and soon a handful more band members walked to Sgt. Prevost’s chair and assembled their instruments to play. It wasn’t long before the entire band joined in, including the harp and brass section, Fox News said.
The arrangement included Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring” and then segued into a rendition of “Joy to the World.” Vocalists came streaming out from the museum’s balcony, located on the second floor.
Col. Larry H. Lang conducted the score, Fox News reported.
The event was captured on video and posted on YouTube.
