Police officers and a SWAT team surrounded a Phoenix hospital on Monday morning and are trying to coax an armed man who is holed up inside the emergency room into giving up peacefully.

The man, in his 40s, entered the Phoenix Baptist Hospital about 2 a.m. MST, wielding a knife and acting in a strange manner, police Sgt. Trent Crump said on CBS 5. Officers were able to take his knife, but he then pulled out a gun.

He’s locked inside a bathroom, Sgt. Crump said.

Nobody has been injured, and patients and hospital workers have been cleared from the area, CBS 5 reported.
