The defense minister of Iran said the military has a new laser system, and it’s significantly bolstered the accuracy of ballistic missiles — to the point that they can hit within a couple feet of their targets.

The Associated Press reported the claim while clarifying that there’s no way to independently verify its truth. But the Pentagon did sent out a report last year about Iran’s improved missile capabilities.

But in a website posting, Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan said missiles used to be able to come within 218 yards of targets — but can now come within 2, AP said.

Iran’s weapons stock includes missiles with a range of 1,200 miles — capable of reaching the Middle East, including targets in Israel.
