A Michigan Republican running for a U.S. Senate seat is likely striking a chord with tea party types who favor limited government, with a mantra that reminds government is a servant.

People are the master, said Terri Lynn Land, in an email to raise funds for her run for retiring Democrat Sen. Carl Levin’s seat, BuzzFeed reported.

“We need to make reforms to make government the servant — not the master,” she wrote. “I’m ready to go there and whip things into shape.”

Ms. Land is a former secretary of state in Michigan. She’s also a national committeewoman for the Republican National Committee, BuzzFeed reported.

Part of her platform: End Obamacare.

But the seeming small-government supporter isn’t immune from policy flip-flops. BuzzFeed reported that her current position to abolish Obamacare is a deviation from her views of a month ago, when she advocated a more fix-it approach.
