Dan Bongino, a former Secret Service agent who’s now campaigning in Maryland for a congressional seat, said the biggest threat facing the nation is the massive bureaucracy that’s driving out common sense politics.
His big concern, he said to The Blaze: What’s happening to the Constitution?
“My experience in the government is, when something arrives on your desk, you assume it’s been through these massive layers of bureaucracy and management — that you don’t even ask the basic questions … [like] is this constitutional?” Mr. Bongino told The Blaze. And it’s this state of affairs that is proving to be a “very, very dangerous development” in America, he added.
“It’s bureaucratic laziness at it its worst,” Mr. Bongino said, in The Blaze. “Instead of looking at common sense measures to combat a real threat going forward, we’re now blanket surveilling everyone.” Everyone has “become de facto criminals.”
His big warning?
“Liberty’s a zero-sum game,” he said, The Blaze reported. “It can’t belong to you and the government at the same time.”
