A young child was killed and four others injured when the school bus they were riding crashed with a dump truck on a road in southwestern Idaho.
Canyon County Sheriff spokeswoman Theresa Baker said all the parents had been notified, CBS reported. About 10 children were on the bus, heading toward Crimson Point Elementary School, when a dump truck collided with it, Ms. Baker said.
Officials haven’t released the names of ages of the children, but the oldest among them attended sixth grade.
The condition of the injured children hasn’t been released.
“It’s a horrible … it’s a terrible thing,” said Idaho State Police Sgt. John Burke, in CBS. “The family [of the killed child] is devastated. They need our prayers, and all we can do is hope they can get through it.”
The incident occurred at a four-way intersection, but police are still trying to determine what went wrong.
“We can’t really speculate. We need to gather more information and continue the investigation,” Mr. Burke said in the report.
