Is comedian Jon Stewart a CIA ’Zionist’ spy? Iranian state TV apparently thinks so.
Mr. Stewart spent much of the summer filming ’Rosewater,’ a movie based on the Iranian imprisonment of journalist Maziar Bahari. As the release date nears, Iranian television has ramped up conspiracy theories about “The Daily Show” host.
Nader Talebezadeh, billed as a media expert, explained: “They give you everything to produce your film. Warships, 20 helicopters, an aircraft carrier. They give you whatever you want if they like your story. The CIA, the FBI and the Zionist lobby help you if you can give them something in return. This film is one of those things that the Zionist lobby wants. I mean, somewhere in a think tank the decision is made. The producers just implement it. When the system supports a film, it spends all the money necessary. The result is not supposed to be financial return. It’s propaganda.”
Mr. Bahari’s imprisonment was connected with a mock interview he did with “The Daily Show” in 2009, Mediaite reported. One of the show’s correspondents pretended to be a spy while he interacted with the journalist.
“Jon has been directing an ultra-formulaic movie commissioned by his masters,” the Iranian report continued.
