A Long Island businesswoman said her plan to build a huge “Chinese Disneyland” in upstate New York, laid out in Feng Shui fashion, could draw in thousands of wealthy immigrants and up to $6 billion in foreign investment. All that’s needed is a $65 million contribution from the federal government to help kick off the construction.

Part of the plan, slated for the town of Thompson located in the Catskills, relies on a federal program that grants visas to foreigners who invest $500,000 in the United States, The New York Post reported.

Another part of the plan relies on a $65 million contribution from the federal government, to help pay for the $10 million planned “Temple of Heaven, the $24 million hotel complex and the $20 million “Forbidden City” project, described as a layout of strategically placed buildings to harmonize nature with mankind — Feng Shui style, The New York Post reported.

It’s called the China City of America, and it also includes an amusement park, mansions and even a casino. The concept was hatched by businesswoman Sherry Li, and proposed to Thompson town leaders for consideration this week.

“We can kind of view it as a Chinese concept of Disney — so it’s going to have lot of attractions for families,” she said, in The New York Post.

Also included in the China City design: A college, up to 1,000 homes, a Chinese-themed retail center and perhaps a gambling casino.

It would be located about 90 miles outside New York City.

“It’s multiple phases. No project is going to happen in one day. It’s going to be step-by-step,” Ms. Li said, in The New York Post.
