A New York daily newspaper may have reported that disgraced and failed New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner was a top considered choice for a new WABC radio show, but Cumulus Media couldn’t be clearer in denying interest.

“Our comment is best summed up by Taylor Swift’s hit song, ’We’re never, ever getting back together’ — and in this case, we were never together to begin with as this is nothing Cumulus ever contemplated,” a spokesperson for the company told Politico.

Yet the New York Daily News was insistent late Wednesday that the beleaguered ex-congressman was talking with both WABC and WOR, the city’s Clear Channel station, about the possibility of hosting a key drive-time news-and-chat show.

In the report, WABC denied that the talks were in process; WOR did not comment.

But Daily News said that sources with inside information about the deal said that Mr. Weiner in fact was mulling the offer and that the show was billed to him as a focus on local politics.
