Shortly after “Good Morning America” co-anchor Robin Roberts publicly announced she was gay on Facebook, first lady Michelle Obama and White House adviser Valerie Jarrett tweeted to voice their support.
“@RobinRoberts, I am so happy for you and Amber! You continue to make us all proud. -mo,” Mrs. Obama said Monday afternoon, Mediaite.com first reported.
“@RobinRoberts continues to demonstrate extraordinary grace, reminding us of what’s truly important in life: health, family, and love,” Miss Jarrett tweeted.
On Sunday, the ABC News anchor posted on Facebook, “I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together,” acknowledging for the first time publicly her same-sex girlfriend.
The post focused on her one-year anniversary since she reached “a critical milestone of 100 days post transplant,” after revealing she had the rare blood disorder M.D.S.
“Reading this comforts me and I hope the same for you: ’If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present,’ ” she wrote. “At this moment I am at peace and filled with joy and gratitude.”
