At least one attacker fired dozens of bullets at the home of the German ambassador’s home in Athens early Monday morning, but nobody was injured.
Investigators found several bullets embedded in the steel gate that surrounds the structure, occupied by Ambassador Wolfgang Dold, BBC reported. The home is located in the Halandri district of Athens.
It’s not clear if the ambassador was inside the home at the time of the attack, but police say they found at least 60 spent bullet casings at the scene, BBC reported.
Police are still trying to determine the reason for the attack, as well as the identity of the gunman — or gunmen, BBC said.
The attack comes as many in Greece are unhappy with Germany’s demand for budget cuts and continued austerity measures.
