The Democratic National Committee is trying to jumpstart some fundraising flurry by using fear, suggesting that if party faithfuls don’t give — and give big for the upcoming elections — President Obama could very well face impeachment.

In a fundraising email sent over the weekend, Democratic operatives put in the subject line: “Impeachment,” Fox News reported. The content of the email included quotes from Sen. James Inhofe, and Reps. Michele Bachmann, Kerry Bentivolio and Blake Farenthold, who have all raised the specter of presidential impeachment for Mr. Obama’s many alleged constitutional offenses.

The gist of the email: If Democrats don’t take back the House, and keep control of the Senate, Mr. Obama’s political future faced serious jeopardy.

“Republicans are actually excited about the idea,” the DNC said, in the email reported by Fox News. “Show these Republicans that they are way, way off base and give President Obama a Congress that has his back.”

No Republican has actually introduced an impeachment bill.
