The head of a Georgia-based firearms manufacture is urging NFL fans to call on the league to rethink its decision to not run the group’s pro-gun rights ad during the 2014 Super Bowl.

“If you are an NFL fan, call the NFL and tell them, ’Come on man! Run my ad,” Marty Daniel said during an appearance on Fox and Friends Tuesday, borrowing part of a catchphrase from the “C’Mon Man!” segment that runs on ESPN’s popular Monday Night Countdown, a football show.

Guns & Ammo magazine reported last week week that FOX said the NFL rejected the Daniel Defense ad because it violates the NFL’s prohibited advertising categories, which include ads for liquor, gambling, fireworks, contraceptives — and firearms.

The magazine pointed out that the company sells DDM4 rifles, but the paid advertisement - which Mr. Daniel said cost close to $100,000 - does not showcase these rifles.

Mr. Daniel said on Fox and Friends Tuesday that he believes the majority of the Super Bowl fans share his group’s values.

“We believe in protecting our families. We believe in our Second Amendment, which is the right to protect ourselves,” he said. “We believe in the First Amendment, which is really the issue here. We are trying to exercise our First Amendment rights to give our opinion on the Second Amendment.”
