Toronto Mayor Rob Ford may be readying for the fight of his political life in next year’s re-election bid after an admission of crack cocaine use, but he found time for football Sunday.
The mayor, clad in a Buffalo Bills jersey, attended the Bills’ game against the Atlanta Falcons in Toronto, even posing for pictures with fans at halftime, The Associated Press reported.
His appearance sparked strong crowd reactions from both supporters and hecklers. AP reported that at least four Toronto police officers along with stadium security took up post outside the entrance to the VIP section where Mr. Ford sat.
In recent weeks, has admitted he smoked crack cocaine, but explained the behavior in part on his drunkenness. He has refused to step down from his mayoral seat and promised a “bloodbath” during his re-election campaign next year.
